POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Human Resources guides and manages the overall provision of Human Resources services at WhidbeyHealth, including developing and executing Human Resources strategy in the areas of employee recruitment and retention, succession planning, culture development and improvement, organizational and performance management, collective bargaining negotiation, training and development, and compensation. The Director of Human Resources works closely with the executive team to ensure alignment with the overall mission by participating in strategic and business planning, policy formulation, process improvements, program development, and developing and implementing strategies to attract, develop and retain highly qualified employees.

This individual is dynamic, decisive, collaborative, open-minded, team-focused, and fully invested in the success of the staff and organization serving the WhidbeyHealth community. A qualified Director of Human Resources will demonstrate the ability to support and further a patient-centered care culture and provide caring and dedicated leadership to their team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, employee relations, union relations and negotiation, training and development.

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Must have excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.

Demonstrated experience in labor negotiations and collaboration.

Demonstrated ability to lead and develop Human Resources staff members.

A minimum of 10 years’ experience in Human Resources, with at least 5 years serving as HR director or manager or equivalent in a health care organization. 

The selected candidate must have the ability to bring immediate credibility to the Human Resources department through his/her professional qualifications and leadership skills, demonstrating the highest levels of integrity. Superior interpersonal communication and presentation skills as well as proven organizational skills are required. A BS/BA degree from an accredited college/university and SPHR or equivalent certification required.
