Board Positions 2020

We are seeking board members for 2020!

Here is your chance to help us continue providing programs and events for SIHRMA members  and the Skagit/Island community.

We have several positions open for the 2020 term. While these are volunteer positions you get a few benefits. Board members get opportunities to participate in additional board and HR training, you can receive re-certification credit for board activities,  network with everyone and you get to work with a great group of people.

Communications/Website: This is a fun position for someone who loves to work on the computer, post pictures, blog posts and manage our website. Create content, emails, and attend quarterly communication meeting on the phone with WASHRM.

Legislative: Do you keep up on what is happening in Olympia and Washington DC? This is a great opportunity to share that with our membership. Blog about upcoming legislation, plan a trip for members to visit Olympia, and attend quarterly legislative meetings with WASHRM.

Membership: Love to network? The Membership director gets to talk to everyone. You would maintain the membership roster, help on-board new members , reach out to members who may have ideas or issues to resolve. This person plans and executes our networking event with the HR Community, works closely with marketing and is constantly looking for new ways to engage the Human Resources Community in Skagit and Island County. They also attend quarterly WASHRM Membership meetings on the phone and provide data to the national SHRM organization as needed.

Past President: If you are a past President bring your experience to assist the board with operations. This position may serve as any other open position in addition to advising the board.

Programs: Do you enjoy watching speakers both online and in person?  Plan the programs we hold. You will get to work with speakers to create an exciting mix of topics and ensure that our programs continue to be relevant to our membership.

Marketing: We need someone to successfully develop a marketing strategy for SIHRMA events including appropriate steps to take for every event and informational messages. You'll work collaboratively with the Communication Chair and Programs chair to create and design both written communications and flyers for the events as appropriate. Work with all social media platforms and take pictures of events as needed.

Partner Event Coordinator: Do you straddle the county line?  We would love a person to be the liaison with the Mt. Baker and Snohomish Chapters in order to plan and execute appropriate Partner Events as needed. In addition, this person will work to create relationships with members in far flung regions such as Oak Harbor or San Juan Islands to find ways for inclusion and collaboration.

SHRM Foundation:  This person works closely with SHRM and follows SHRM initiatives with regard to the SHRM foundation. Represents the chapter from a diversity and inclusion standpoint. You also may create volunteer events based upon chapter goals or SHRM Foundation initiatives. Attend quarterly SHRM Foundation calls through WA SHRM and interacts with national SHRM initiatives.

Educational Event Coordinator: Do you want to hone your project management skills? Under the supervision of the Incoming President, plan and execute the annual SIHRMA Educational Event. This position may join the BOD in time to plan the event and needs not be a yearlong commitment.
