The US Department of Labor’s FLSA final overtime rule has been described as controversial. The impact of the final rule promises to be far-reaching for all organizations and all industries in the US. Attendees at this presentation will leave with a clearer understanding of the impact of these changes to their organization, and how to prepare for the huge shift in how work is done in Washington State and the rest of the United States.

Attendees will learn:

• The proposed regulations in light of historical changes to the FLSA since it was passed in 1938.
• How to prepare their organization for the ongoing changes to the Washington State Exempt Salary Threshold.
• The legal implications and challenges of the proposed changes fo their organization in other states.
• What changes to make to their current HR practices to determine the impact of the proposed regulations.
• What they must do in preparation to implement the state and Federal salary threshold increases in all locations where they have business operations.

About the Speaker

Nancy is a Principal of Compensation Connections, with over 25 years of management experience in addition to 10 years in human resources and total rewards. She received her Master of Science degree from the University of California, San Francisco, and a Certificate in Management from the University of California, San Diego. Nancy holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) designation with an additional certification as a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP). She is also certified as a SHRM-SCP.

Nancy has worked with hundreds of organizations throughout North America as a compensation consultant. She volunteers with Washington State SHRM and is a past President of the Lake Washington Human Resource Association.  In addition to her professional and volunteer responsibilities, Nancy speaks regionally and nationally on topics ranging from compensation and benefits to mentorship and diversity.
