The SHRM Skagit-Island Book Club is a community space for HR and business professionals who want to move beyond collecting great books and actually read them—together. Designed to foster connection, reflection, and practical application, the book club creates a shared rhythm for working through the business, leadership, and people-focused books that tend to pile up on our shelves.
How it works:
Participants help shape the reading list! Each month, members can vote on book selections by filling out a survey (Feb 1st Release), with the final selection made by the 15th of the month to allow enough time to obtain the book. Meetings are held on the last Wednesday of the month (virtually at lunchtime and evening in-person), providing a consistent schedule for discussion and reflection.
Important: We require a minimum of 5 participants to run the book club. Once we reach this number, the book club will be scheduled and details shared with members.
What to Expect:
Curated business, leadership, and HR-relevant book selections chosen by member vote
A shared reading timeline that respects busy schedules
Facilitated, discussion-based meetings focused on insight and practical application
A welcoming environment for diverse perspectives and experience levels
